Addition
Student will be able to put two or more quantities together using various strategies taught in early numeracy like: counting on from the larger quantity, make ten and some more, use friendly numbers and use their knowledge of doubles and some more.

Before and After
Students will become familiar with a number line and understand the language of before, after, one more and one less. This task should become automatic without too much think time needed.

Combinations of Ten
Students will need to have a concrete understanding of ten. This is to ensure that the foundation is laid for the building blocks to all math strategies. Students being able to understand combinations of ten and having 10ness with numbers will only benefit them in place value in the future!!

Counting by Fives
Students will be able to count by fives, forwards and backwards. This gives them an anchor point and a friendly number to access when they are trying to use their counting, addition and subtraction strategies.

Counting by Ones
Students will be able to count forward and backward by ones along a numberline. This teaches them the number sequence and patterns within numbers. Once they figure out the number pattern it unlocks the code to all numbers.

Counting by Tens
Students will be able to count by tens forward and backward starting at any number on the number line. This skill helps kids understand place value and how to change only the tens place when counting forward or backward by ten.

Counting by Twos
Students will be able to skip count from any number on the numberline. This skill only benefits and enables the students to be flexible with numbers. Counting by twos is another way for the students to show that they have a concrete understanding of numbers and their quanities.

Counting Collections
Students will be able to count a collection of items. It is important that the students one to one match as they count. This skill helps the students to understand that 52 is not just a number, but has a value associated with it. They start understanding the magnitude of numbers.

Decades
Students will become familiar with decade numbers in order to count successfully and begin to understand the ideas of place value.

Empty Number Line
Students will be able to understand numbers well enough to find an approximate place of magnitude on an empty number line. This will help build the skills of estimation, the understanding of quantity, as well as the understanding of magnitude.

Friendly Numbers
Students will grasp friendly numbers such as the decades and anchor points of five to help with addition, subtraction, and the development of number sense knowledge.
Hundreds Chart
Students will become familiar with the hundreds chart. This tool will help them build mathematical strategies for all areas of Number and Operation.

Place Value
Students will understand the numeral value within a two or more digit number. This will allow students to build a firm understanding of our base ten system. This enables students to add and subtract multi digit numbers in their head.

Subitizing
Students will be able to quickly identify a collection of items without one to one counting. This should be a rapid paced drill where collections are shown and covered quickly. The student is then asked to tell how many they saw and how they know. Fluency of this task ensures that children understand number.

Subtraction
Students will be able to find the difference between two quantities using various strategies taught in early numeracy like: counting back from the larger quantity, comparitive subtraction, using decades, doubles, fives and tens.

Teen Numbers
Students will be able to identify ten and some more as the tricky teens. They will understand the difference between teens and the decade numbers ("ty" vs. "teen").
